We met in Providence, Rhode Island. We worked together heading up different teams, driving a successful inclusive culture. John's team affectionately referred to us as "Mom and Dad", so perhaps it was inevitable that we would start dating!
Our first date was in NY. We had coffee in Bryant Park and strolled along the nearby New York Public Library literary walk, followed by lunch in Grand Central Station. The waiter was charming, and gave us a complimentary dessert (because he thought we make a cute couple) to round off a delicious meal. We enjoyed a long, romantic kiss, before heading our separate ways.
Providence holds many happy memories! We discovered fine bistros and restaurants.
With family commitments, it was hard to spend much time together. We became very familiar with making the trip between Massachusetts and New Jersey, whether by plane, train, or automobile (or bus for John! haha).
Kimberlee's children are Haley and David. John's are Jack, Rosie, Sam and Ava. Jack and Rosie both live in the UK. The first time we got the whole gang together was on Hilton Head Island.
With the logistics of work, study and geography, times spent together are precious. We were most recently all together for Rosie's marriage to Will.
We are blessed to have six wonderful children, each unique in their own way and each loved fiercely.
Kimberlee's friends were surprised to learn that one of our first trips was camping "down the Cape." John thinks of it as 'car camping', as we arrived by car, with the camping gear stowed in a suitcase. Kimberlee, considers it roughing it. It did involve sleeping in a tent, albeit a massive one that even John could stand up in. It did rain for a while (torrential to an American and a mere shower to a Brit.) We survived due to John's camping prowess. John did surprise Kimberlee with morning mimosas, made with freshly squeezed orange juice and strawberries.
As John said, "just because we're camping, it doesn't mean we're savages!".
Kimberlee quickly realized that as a Chief Scout and qualified Mountain Guide with a penchant for spending money at REI, John could be trusted to "bring her back alive".
John later convinced Kimberlee to take a more wild camping trip, involving kayaking part of the Delaware Water Gap with an overnight camping stop at a 'primitive camp site' on the river bank. No suitcases this time!
There are so many stories that could be told, many involving fun times with family and friends. Many involving more luxurious accommodation than a tent.
We are delighted you have all chosen to join our celebration of love at the Beauport, which is a favorite location for us.
